Spring cushion…

undefined

Highlighters, self-tanners, blushers, long-lasting versions… the tiny sponge-cushion endures and takes a multitude of forms. As warmer weather approaches, its fresh, convenient application – your fingers do not get dirty – and natural makeup finish are more than ever seducing.

It seems cushions have become part of our complexion makeup habits.
They used to be reproached for their lack of coverage and long wear. But that is far behind us this spring, thanks to Lancôme (Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation, Longwear High Coverage Cushion, €47), Clarins (Everlasting Cushion Long-Wearing & Hydrating Foundation, €43), and Estée Lauder (Double Wear BB Cushion Compact, €46.50).
On top of that, most of them offer SPF50 protection and refillable packaging.

Lancôme have even designed a red and fuchsia case specially designed for the Chinese New Year (€10.30, limited edition), as well as blush-highlighter/colour-correcting primer duos (Light Cream Duo Cushion, €41.50).
Shu Uemura imagined Fresh Cushion Blush in two shades, mauve and amber (€39), and Shiseido innovated with Synchro Skin Cushion Compact Bronzer (€45, universal shade), the first self-tanner in a cushion that warms up the complexion as soon as the first rays appear! Givenchy created a highlighter (Teint Couture Cushion Glow – Two-Tone Highlighter, €53).

As for ‘standard’ foundations, they all have their own specificities: ultra-fresh aqua-gel texture and flexible fabric screen to deliver the perfect dose for Chanel (Les Beiges Healthy Glow Gel Touch Foundation, €57), a moisturizing, non-comedogenous formula to chase away fatigue for Guerlain (Lingerie de Peau Anti-Fatigue Cushion Foundation, €50), and a dual flocked sponge for buildable coverage for Yves Saint-Laurent (Touche Éclat Cushion Foundation, €60).

Lastly, Giorgio Armani created the most expensive of all featuring an exclusive red-lacquered cap (My Armani To Go The Cushion, €65). Its originality? A new neopora applicator (derived from neoprene) with a triangular tip to reach the most difficult face areas and angles, and highly airtight packaging to prevent the foundation from getting dry – a recurring problem with cushions.
