Thalgo launches the Cica Marin line, the first face care products with marine prebiotics

Cica Marin is a new range of four facial skincare products, each containing marine prebiotics (derived from red macro-algae), which repair, soothe and strengthen sensitive, weakened skin.

Sensitive skin is characterised by an altered skin barrier and a lower tolerance threshold. The epidermis becomes thinner, and insensible water loss and skin permeability increase.
The refined epidermis induces hyper-stimulation of over-exposed nerve fibres. The skin over-reacts to its environment.
The increase in skin permeability to irritants leads to an exacerbated inflammatory reaction, with tingling sensations, overheating and hyper-reactivity.
Finally, the skin microbiome is out of balance. Beneficial skin bacteria, which help maintain skin integrity, are reduced in favour of pro-inflammatory bacteria, which amplify inflammation and weaken the epidermal barrier.

To remedy this, Thalgo has created the Cica Marin line, comprising four facial treatments all formulated with marine prebiotics: Soothing Cream (50 ml refillable pebble jar, €52), Soothing Fluid (50 ml, €52), Soothing Anti-Redness Serum (30 ml, €55) and Soothing Repair Mask (50 ml, €38).
Thalgo’s innovation? To have identified a red macro-alga, Halymenia durvillei, recognised as one of the richest in polysaccharides, whose green extraction produces an extract with a high oligosaccharide content. These marine prebiotics have beneficial, rebalancing effects on the skin’s microbiome, boosting the skin’s resistance and fortifying it.
