The immortelle flower, or Helichrysum italicum, is at the heart of many of L’Occitane’s anti-aging skincare products.
Known for over 2,000 years, it’s called immortelle because it doesn’t wilt, even after being picked. This strong, hardy plant thrives in the sun-drenched, rocky soil of the Corsican maquis.
The Provencal brand has succeeded in capturing the volatile molecules of this plant, thus capturing the very essence of the flower. Immortelle essential oil is well known in Mediterranean culture and aromatherapy for its soothing properties. It helps heal bruises and reduce scarring, and is behind some of the brand’s greatest advances in anti-aging research.
For its new Immortelle Harmonie line (Sérum Jeunesse d’Exception, 30 ml, €170 and Crème Jeunesse d’Exception, 50 ml, €155, refill 50 ml, €135), L’Occitane has developed a super extract of Immortelle combined with its oil. Gentler on the skin than retinol, this extract helps smooth wrinkles and improve skin firmness and density.
