On 28 August 2024, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) published Poland’s intention of an harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) for Decyl Alcohol (surfactant and fragrance).

Decan-1-ol (CAS No.112-30-1; EC No.203-956-9; INCI: Decyl alcohol) is an ingredient listed in the Cosing, with the functions: Skin conditioning (emollient), Surfactant (foam boosting), Fragrance, Surfactant (cleansing), Viscosity controlling.
The substance is not currently regulated by European Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009, nor is it listed in Annex VI of European CLP Regulation 1272/2008.

Poland intends to classify the substance as follows:
• Skin Irrit. 2, H315 - Causes skin irritation.
• Eye Irrit. 2, H319 - Causes serious eye irritation.
