International regulations: News from the Andean Community

As part of its partnership with CosmeticOBS, Business France reports that the Andean Community (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru) has published the Proyecto de Reglamento Técnico Andino sobre Especificaciones Técnicas Microbiológicas de Productos Cosméticos (Draft Andean technical regulation on microbiological technical specifications for cosmetic products).

The purpose of this draft Regulation is to establish the microbiological specifications to be met by cosmetic products marketed in the territory of the Member States in order to protect human health or safety, in accordance with Article 9(l) of Decision 833 Armonización de Legislaciones en materia de Productos cosméticos of 2018.
Comments are expected by November 16, 2019.

As a reminder, the Andean Community (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru) has published the new Resolution No.833 which will enter into force on 27 November 2019. In particular, it removes the obligation to provide a Free Sales Certificate (FSC) for the placing on the market of cosmetic products and in particular the simplification of import procedures for Member States.
