The PIF must be kept for 10 years after the last batch of the cosmetic product is placed on the market… nd for some products, until 11 July 2020.
Under Article 11.1 of the Regulation, “The Product Information File shall be kept for a period of ten years following the date on which the last batch of the cosmetic product was placed on the market.”
Since July 11, 2013, the Responsible Person must keep the PIF for 10 years after the last batch of this product has been placed on the market. This requirement applies to existing products that have always been placed on the market on 11 July 2013, or to any new product placed on the market after 11 July 2013.
Under Article 38, “Responsible Persons shall continue to keep readily accessible the information collected pursuant to Article 7a of the Directive 76/768/EEC until 11 July 2020.”
Thus, for products that have no longer been placed on the market on 11 July 2013, Article 38 applies. The information contained in the PIF must be kept by the Responsible Person until 11 July 2020.
