Simplification law: not so simple, says FEBEA

On 24 April 2024, the French government presented its “Simplification” action plan. 52 measures to reduce the administrative burden on businesses, but according to the FEBEA, three are missing!

Simplification of pay slips, elimination of Cerfa forms by 2030, end of duplication of formalities, review of standards… the plan presented by the French government on 24 April includes no fewer than 50 actions.
However, in a press release published the same day, the French Federation of Beauty Companies “regrets that this text does not go far enough and does not take into account certain inconsistencies in the regulations affecting cosmetics companies.”
It therefore proposes to add “three simple measures at no cost to the community.”

Digitalisation

Sorting instructions, recycling, allergen labelling… “By adding so much information, cosmetics packaging runs the risk of becoming totally illegible for consumers,” the FEBEA argues.
In addition to the legibility and completeness that digitising the information provided to the consumer would allow, it offers a number of other advantages:
• It would be in line with the environmental objectives of the public authorities by avoiding the destruction of packaging that has become non-compliant
• It would help to reduce secondary packaging, particularly for “small” products which lack the space on their container to carry all the mandatory information
• It would enable easy communication in several languages, a major advantage for a sector where …
