The Berkem group, a French specialist in plant extraction, has just announced the acquisition of the company Biopress. The objective of this operation is to strengthen and extend the group’s offer in various sectors.
Biopress is a French producer of 100% vegetable oils and proteins.
The group wishes to consolidate its offer to the cosmetics industry.
“Raw material sourcing has always been a real know-how for the Berkem Group and, faced with an inflationary and geopolitically complex environment, we felt it was necessary to internalize this skill via a dedicated subsidiary. With the acquisition of Biopress, the Berkem Group now has control over its supply of vegetable oils, essential raw materials for its extraction and formulation activities, while significantly increasing its storage capacity in the direct vicinity of its production facilities. Through local and 100% vegetable sourcing, we will strengthen our position in two of our divisions: Health, Beauty & Nutrition and Industry, Construction & Materials, which benefit fully from the recognized virtues of so-called technical vegetable oils and vegetable proteins. Finally, this acquisition opens the door to a new market, the food industry, where we intend to develop new sustainable solutions for industrialists in need of naturalness,” said Olivier Fahy, Chairman and CEO of Berkem Group.
The acquisition has been finalized. The 11 Biopress employees have joined the Berkem Group’s workforce since April 1, 2023.
