In December 2022, Cosmetics Europe launched a voluntary initiative aimed at reducing the environmental impact of the beauty industry in Europe. One year on, the organization is delighted to have convinced 35 industry players to join the adventure.
Commit for Our Planet encourages companies in the sector to commit to actions aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving packaging solutions and acting in favor of nature.
By providing companies with the necessary resources, the initiative aims to enable the entire sector to take concrete steps towards sustainable sourcing, manufacturing and distribution.
“Since the launch of the Commit for Our Planet initiative in December 2022, 35 companies have committed to a range of efforts, from reducing carbon emissions to improving packaging solutions to taking action for nature. In addition to individual commitments,” explains Cosmetics Europe.
Within a year, the partners have committed to:
• Measure their greenhouse gas emissions (and then try to limit them)
• Better control their supply chains
• Ddopt an increasingly sustainable approach to packaging
