Cosmebio is ten years-old ... and has grown!

Through its green oval and the three capital letters BIO, the Cosmebio logo is often seen on the cosmetics certified as organic. The Professional Association of Ecological and Organic Cosmetic celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. This is an opportunity to look back to its achievements, and to look forward … for the coming ten years!

Established in 2002, a co-writer of the specifications that allow for the certifying of cosmetic products, the source of the French Code of Ethics of eco-friendly and organic cosmetics, Cosmebio is doing well.
Since birth, the child has grown, and comprises now almost 400 members, raw materials suppliers, sub-contractors, distributors and manufacturers, mainly from France.
These members are also doing well, and manage to take advantage in the highly competitive cosmetics market.

Organic, still on the rise

The cosmetics market does not know the crisis word (as a bruise, only).
In 2010, the world market has been valued at 8.4 billions dollars (2.7 billions in Europe, 410 billions in France), a 24% rise (40% in Europe, 38% in France) since 2007.
The share of organic cosmetics is still small: 2% worldwide, 3% in Europe, 2.7% in France, but rising.

In such an environment, a consumer shall easily identify an organic cosmetic. That is why Cosmebio wanted to measure its market recognition by consumers, through a survey performed in France (j’ai ajouté en France)  with  the help of the polling firm Ipsos.
