Faced with the shortage of skilled labor in the beauty industry, Cosmetic Valley has decided to raise awareness of the various trades in the sector. The competitiveness cluster has developed its “Cosmetic Experience Tour”, a traveling exhibition aimed at schoolchildren and adults. The inauguration of this seduction operation took place in Chartres on November 26, 2021.

It’s a green monster, with flushed cheeks, who welcomes the 600 Chartres schoolchildren at Chartrexpo, the city’s exhibition center. Blushy, his real name, is the mascot of the Cosmetic Experience Tour. Accompanied by his wife Vanille, his role is to show that the cosmetics industry is more attractive than it seems. And the stakes are high…
Today, the issue of employment is central to the cosmetics industry.

Nearly 15,000 recruitments are planned in the sector in 2022 but some positions (line operator, formulator …) are still too unknown to the general public. Professionals are therefore experiencing real difficulties in recruiting qualified profiles for these jobs.

Raising awareness at the youngest age

If many children express the desire to become a veterinarian or a singer from an early age, it is more rare to hear them say that they want to join the cosmetics industry. And for good reason, “factory work has a bad reputation and the know-how of the beauty industry is totally unknown,” explains Cosmetic Valley. To address this issue, the competitiveness cluster has designed an experiential and informative tour. The event allows to discover four professions (line operator, maintenance technician, packaging project manager and formulator).
