Chaired by Roland Lescure, Minister Delegate for Industry, the Cosmetics Sector Committee met on 28 November at Bercy for its third working session since its creation in 2021. This meeting was an opportunity to discuss the challenges faced by the various links in the value chain and to submit to the Minister concrete cooperation projects between companies, professional associations and public authorities. The meeting ended with the signing of the “Responsible Supplier Relations / Purchasing” charter.
This industry committee took place in a context marked by the dual energy crisis, which is hitting the cosmetics industry, especially its suppliers, and upsetting the balance and the global supply chain, and the environmental crisis, whose challenges remain immense and urgent, but also represent an “aggiornamento” that will bring growth to the industry.
Here are the main points discussed.
Pursuing the energy transition, despite the crisis
Inflation and risks to gas supplies are not deterring the cosmetics industry from its roadmap. It is resolutely committed to pursuing its energy transition.
Several of the participants in the meeting alerted the Minister to the consequences of the energy crisis, particularly on medium-sized companies (ETI) which are often ineligible for the various aids put in place.
The Minister welcomed the commitments made by the sector. While recalling the major efforts made by the government to help companies, he acknowledged some “perverse effects” in its aid schemes and assured that corrections would be introduced, from January 2023, through, in particular, calls for decarbonisation projects adapted to SMEs and ETIs within the framework of France2030.
