Export: the French cosmetics market is doing well, according to the French FEBEA

Export : le marché cosmétique français se porte bien, selon la FEBEA

Olivier Becht, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, in charge of foreign trade, attractiveness and French abroad, presented the results of foreign trade in the first half of 2022. While the Minister announced a deterioration of France’s trade balance, the French FEBEA said that the cosmetics market has recorded an increase in its exports. The overall cosmetics export market is recording a strong increase in the United States and Europe.
The United States, with an increase of nearly + 32% and 2 billion euros of exports, narrowly passes China as the first export destination.
In Europe, exports to Germany grew strongly over the period with an increase of 32%.

These excellent results are more nuanced in China, where the momentum has been slowed by the sanitary restrictions put in place during the second quarter of 2022. The country nevertheless recorded an increase of +9% over the period January-May 2022.
In total, the increase in export sales of cosmetics is 19% during the first five months of the year.

“This strong increase confirms that the reputation of French cosmetics continues to make people dream internationally! It lets us hope to approach €20 billion in exports in 2022.
