The French Union for Oral and Dental Health (UFSBD), an organisation representing dentists, has just updated its recommendations to be applied daily. On the programme: two 2-minute brushing sessions per day, the use of dental floss, mouth rinses, a good diet… without forgetting the use of a cosmetic product, toothpaste.
" We have updated our recommendations to conform to the data acquired from science, the clinical experience of practitioners, the state of health of the French, strategies for appropriating health messages, which promote the"right thing", and to accompany changes in lifestyles and consumption ! More than recommendations, I would rather talk about rules that must be applied on a daily basis from an early age! They may seem lighter or less strict, but they actually include brushing at the heart of a wider arsenal "explains Dr. Sophie Dartevelle, President of UFSBD.
The UFSBD thus addresses basic recommendations, to adopt good daily habits from the earliest age: - 2 brushings of 2 minutes per day with a fluoridated toothpaste, - flossing once a day (in the evening), - the adoption of a balanced diet avoiding foods containing hidden sugars and snacks between meals, - an annual visit to the dentist at the age of 1 year.
The UFSBD also makes additional recommendations: - Chewing sugar-free chewing gum for 20 minutes or rinsing the mouth with a glass of water after each food intake, - the daily use of a mouthwash.
