The cosmetic industry ready to hire... specialized skills especially

The Cosmetic Valley competitiveness cluster has just released a prospective survey on four strategic areas (Vegetable, Formulation, Packaging, Sensory field) in the eight French administrative "departements" in which it is established. A result: the cosmetic industry will offer many job opportunities within the next few years. However, it faces recruitment challenges as workers with the profile it needs are lacking.

The first point of this survey is that the cosmetic industry will offer many further jobs. A company out of two in the Cosmetic Valley plans to recruit new workers within the next three to five years in the strategic department of its business.

What are the needs?

A job is said to be strategic when its meets several requirements at the same time:
it is a core job for the added value of the company,
it is redefined or new,
the job market is tight, i.e. recruitment is difficult.

Obviously, the economic conditions have a strong influence on the looked for skills and experience. The cosmetics industry companies think they will have to comply with several needs:
to address consumers concerns, by placing on the market luxury, new and eco-friendly products,
• to be competitive, managing costs, guaranteeing the quality and the harmlessness of their products, and innovating,
• to comply with the new regulations, managing their requirements, and making the good practices a given at every step, in the company.

Innovation and compliance to the regulation are, thus, the keywords of tomorrow recruitments.
