This short animated film of 8 minutes and 18 seconds by Annie Leonard makes Americans (and therefore the whole world)"discover" that our daily cosmetics can contain potentially toxic substances for the body. Nothing new under the lids of cream jars, one can think at first sight, especially if one is a regular reader of The Observatory of Cosmetics… And yet..;

 3 September 2010 Yes, cosmetics contain chemicals, sometimes classified as carcinogenic, sometimes as carcinogenic. related to fertility problems, sometimes likely to trigger allergies or asthma attacks… and this is true even for cosmetics intended for babies. Yes, the chemical compounds widely used in our hygiene and beauty products are often used without any real toxicity assessment being undertaken and, more often than not, we still do not know what they become and what their real impact is on our health. But what is certain is that they end up inside our bodies and that we are all"polluted" by them. Yes, cosmetic labels are far from telling consumers everything, at least if we stick to words written in very large print and advertising arguments. Yes, a product stamped"yes naturalness "or"with plant extracts" may also contain petrochemical derivatives in very high proportions. Yes, well, all this, the Observatoire des Cosmétiques says so and regularly reminds us. Nothing new, then? Not so fast.
