LEDs-based TV sets are now very common, which provide an image quality far better than that gotten from the classic screens. It is a door to a very different world that Dr Claude Dalle has opened during this Breakfast Meetings - Cosmetics session (monthly professional meetings, organized by Sylvain-Romain Cotte - SRC Consulting ): the door for a new kind of therapy, with medical as well as esthetic applications. Beware; a revolution?

LEDs: let there be light!

The acronym "LED" comes for L ight- E mitting D iode. LEDs emit a monochromatic light (one colour). Their radiation is perceived by our cells as a signal, to which they answer by a specific activity.
Monitoring the signal (its colour/wavelength, its power, its intensity, the area it treats, the irradiation time …) allows for the causing of the looked-for activity. Further, this applies to many areas.

Using light as a therapy is not that new. In the Pharaonic Egypt, it was already applied to treat vitiligo (a skin disease that produces white spots on the epidermis). Heliotherapy (treatment by the sun light) was already a preferred treatment by Hippocrates, the renowned Ancient Greece doctor.
