Decarbonated glass: the packaging of the future

Le verre décarboné : l'incontournable des emballages de demain

At a time when the environmental impacts generated by industry are increasingly scrutinised, and when plastic is almost public enemy number one, it is perhaps time to reconsider the advantages of glass… Of course, this material also has some ecological challenges to face… But Pierre Dehé, CSR Director of the Pochet Group, came to plead its cause during the “Consumer Safety & Cosmetics” conference day, organised by the Cosmetic Valley on June 10, 2021, by demonstrating that they were not insurmountable.

This is a glass lover speaking to you. And proud to present the responsible approaches implemented within the glass industry.

The Pochet group, which will soon celebrate its 400th anniversary, is an institution in the French glass industry. It has fourteen sites around the world, including nine in France (*“At a time of Made in France, it is important”, underlined Pierre Dehé), 4000 employees and an annual turnover of about 450 million, which it invests up to 200 million in productivity and environmental evolution.
Among its most emblematic creations, the Abeille bottle of Guerlain’s eau de Cologne created in 1853 for Empress Eugénie…

The group’s CSR approach has been built around four pillars:
• Preserving the planet
• Considering women and men
• Progressing together with its stakeholders, suppliers and customers
• Protecting and transmitting its know-how
“It is an approach that is recognised and solid, since both the Glass and Metal-Plastic divisions have obtained the Platinum medal (the highest) from EcoVadis and the Decorative division the Gold medal. And our know-how of excellence has been recognised with the EPV (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant) label on six French sites,” Pierre Dehé was pleased to say.
