International news: Temporary reduction of pickup costs in Ivory Coast

As part of its partnership with CosmeticOBS, Business France reports a temporary reduction in the cost of pickup of all types of goods, including cosmetics, at the Port Autonome d’Abidjan.

The Ivorian Customs Directorate General is attached to the Ministry in charge of the Economy and Finance.
As a State service, the General Customs Directorate (DGD) is responsible for implementing and enforcing the legislative and regulatory provisions to which the movement of persons, goods, means of transport and capital into and out of the country is subject.

As such, customs has many missions: a fiscal mission, an economic mission, a mission to facilitate trade that has emerged with the requirements of globalization and a mission to support other administrations through the protection of the interests of the State and citizens. Indeed, its main mission is to ensure the facilitation of trade involved by import/export on its territory.

In this context, in September 2019, measures were taken by the Ivorian Customs Directorate to decongest the container terminal at the port of Abidjan.
Indeed, the Ivorian Customs Directorate has decided to grant a “90 % allowance” granted “on an exceptional basis” “on customs deposit costs” incurred by containers of all imported goods, in particular cosmetics, admitted to the container terminal and customs clearance areas before 1 April 2019.
