On 19 March 2024, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) published the updated Community Rolling Action Plan (CoRAP) for the years 2024, 2025 and 2026. The list includes a total of 28 substances that will be assessed by the Member States under the REACH Regulation. Eight of these may be used in cosmetics.
The 28 substances included in CoRAP 2024-2026, which are suspected of posing a risk to human health or the environment, will be assessed by the competent authorities of 11 Member States.
This plan includes 11 new entries and 17 already present in previous CoRAPs. Of these 17, 11 have had their evaluations postponed, mainly, explains ECHA, pending new data that has been requested.
A total of 10 substances are due to be evaluated in 2024, 13 in 2025 and 5 in 2026. However, ECHA warns that for the substances scheduled for 2025 and 2026, changes could be introduced in the next CoRAP update in 2025.
Of the 28 substances concerned, eight can currently be used in cosmetics.
