On 1 June 2021, the EU transmitted to the WTO a draft Implementing Decision to identify Resorcinol as a substance of very high concern under the REACH Regulation, due to its endocrine disruptor properties. This Decision is the conclusion of the safety assessment process of the substance by ECHA on the basis of the dossier submitted by France in February 2020, and should be adopted in the 4th quarter of 2021.

This draft Commission Decision aims at identifying resorcinol as a substance of very high concern due to its endocrine disrupting properties whose effects to human health give rise to an equivalent level of concern according to Article 57(f) of Regulation (EC) No.1907/2006 (REACH).

Objective

Resorcinol meets the criteria for its identification as a substance of very high concern in accordance with Article 57(f) of Regulation (EC) No.1907/2006 due to its endocrine disrupting properties whose effects to human health give rise to an equivalent level of concern to other substances of very high concern.
