High-performance foundations

© L'Observatoire des Cosmétiques

Until now, they have tended to"cardboard" the skin, dry it out or even make it dull. But in 2016, the new long-lasting foundations have evolved well. They succeed in combining comfort and resistance (24 hours for some!), luminosity and supple texture, in perfect affinity with the skin. With a lively make-up result that no longer freezes the features.

In the past, they were called"without transfer", but today the word dates it is no longer synonymous with modernity (fashion also applies to words !) and does not appear anywhere in the news. He was probably misunderstood by women, " without transfer " meaning that the foundation leaves no traces. What can be practical not to smear his collars with coats or down jackets, or the white shirt of his lover! Some women really need to be able to"rest" on their foundation and trust it throughout the day (and sometimes even part of the night!). Today, long-lasting foundations (the most covering foundations, often very full of pigments) are no longer synonymous with thickness and no longer dry out the skin. Their texture no longer has the masking effect that plastered the features. It is light and malleable, with a light weight sensation.

This is the case with Lancôme's Ultra-Compact Idole Complexion which has just been released (51 €, six shades). For peace of mind, it lasts up to 24 hours thanks to a combination of silicone polymers and hydrocarbon polymers that ensure exceptional resistance to the passage of time. Oil-free and shine-free It is ultra-matifying because it contains 25% perlite, a volcanic mineral powder that absorbs sebum and sweat like a sponge. In addition, the lamellar structure of the pearlite provides a subtle soft-focus effect and facilitates homogeneous blending on the skin. Rather reserved for combination or oily skins, it is also formulated with a purifying and rebalancing cinnamon extract.

Diorskin Forever High Perfection Complexion Extreme Skin Sublimator from Dior (30 ml, 42.50 €) also controls the shine of the complexion. . Very protective, with a SPF 35 (it becomes more and more difficult to find a foundation without high SPF, the latter also tends to climb !), it comes with a foundation (Diorskin Forever Foundation Foundation, Hold & Extreme Perfection, SPF 20, 30 ml, 42.50 €).

The March 29, it will be Shiseido's turn to launch its own: Synchro Skin Teint Fluide Haute Tenue SPF 20 (30 ml, 45 €, 16 shades depending on the market). This mimetic foundation is a real chameleon: it is able to adapt to each complexion in terms of colors but also to identify the nature of the skin to correct its defects. Thanks to a blend of powders and polymers, it maintains the hold and finish of a freshly applied foundation throughout the day. Its Micro-Fit Polymer weaves a lipophobic network that repels sebum on the surface of the epidermis where it is neutralized by an absorbent powder. The transparent correction polymer corrects the relief created by dilated pores and/or dry areas. It marries perfectly to the microrelief to blur irregularities. Transparent EX colour pigments revive the skin's natural colour thanks to reflection properties far superior to those of a traditional pigment. All in an extra-fine and light fluid texture that blends with the skin.

Finally, we can mention the latest Resurfaçant Actif Correcteur 16H foundation Dermablend™ 3 D Correction de Vichy (30 ml, 21 €, five shades) which conceals almost all skin imperfections (spots, scars, dilated pores…). Its texture Alliagel™, which combines two phases (one anhydrous, the other aqueous) without emulsifiers, is a real innovation! Fresh (which is very rare with this degree of coverage), it offers a bare skin sensation and a peach skin feel that plays the extensions until the evening. The formula is also equipped with SPF 25 and care active ingredients that reduce skin imperfections and pigment spots (salicylic acid and eperulin).
