Perfume extracts

Les extraits de parfum

These highly concentrated fragrances, using the rarest and noblest raw materials, are a real trend in perfumery! Initiated by niche perfumers (Maison Crivelli, Bon Parfumeur, BDK Parfums…), this trend is now spreading to legendary perfume houses like Guerlain, and top perfumers like Dominique Ropion, who has just launched his own brand of extracts. And their high price does nothing to dissuade their loyal public, who praise their tenacity!

Perfume extract, also known as perfume, is the category containing the highest percentage of “perfume concentrate”, which is then diluted in a mixture of water and alcohol.
The concentrate content determines the type of fragrance. An extract contains a minimum of 30% concentrate, an eau de parfum between 12% and 20%, an eau de toilette between 7% and 12%, and so on.
Just a few drops of perfume extract create an enchanting aura that can last all day.

Perfume extracts offer a luxurious, opulent olfactory experience. Their high concentration fully reveals the fragrance’s complex notes, facets and sophisticated accords.
Often composed of precious raw materials extracted according to the rules of the art, they appeal to perfume lovers looking for exceptional olfactory intensity.

Ultra-premium: a growing trend

Ultra-premium (perfumes costing more than 250 euros), as IFF calls it, is a growing trend in perfumery worldwide. Not even Dominique Ropion, Master Perfumer at IFF, would disagree! Considered one of the world’s leading perfumers, he has just launched his own Haute Parfumerie brand: Aphôrismes by Dominique Ropion, exclusively composed of six perfume extracts, presented in his first Parisian “écrin-shop”.
