Labelling of the composition in Portuguese

Resolution “RDC No.646” of 24 March 2022 establishes the provisions on the obligation to describe the composition in Portuguese on the labelling of personal hygiene products, cosmetics and perfumes.

According to this text, personal hygiene products, cosmetics and perfumes intended to be marketed in Brazil must mention the chemical composition in Portuguese on the label, without prejudice to other requirements provided for by the regulations in force.
In this context :
• The International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) remains mandatory for product labelling
• The chemical composition in Portuguese may be presented on the original product label in the form of additional labels
• The chemical composition in Portuguese may be presented in numerical form, via a code preceded by the phrase “Composition (Portuguese):” or “Ingredients (Portuguese),” on the label giving direct access to this composition
• It must use the updated Brazilian Common Denomination (DCB) or another reference indicated by Anvisa
• If a substance does not have a DCB, it is up to the companies to carry out the translation of the INCI, according to RDC No.63 of 28 December 2012 or its updates
