Argane : Pierre Fabre appeals

On January 5, CosmeticOBS-L'Observatoire des Cosmétiques echoed the decision of the Tribunal de Grande Instance of Paris acting that the word "Argane" was not a cosmetic brand as alleged by Pierre Fabre group, could not not be used exclusively and should remain freely available to all the market actors. It was anticipated that the famous group of dermo-cosmetics, marketing a full range of its brand Galénic under the name "Argane", would not call it quits. It has just appealed.

Here is the text of the statement issued by Pierre Fabre today to explain its decision , following this case ( see " Argan and Argan are not cosmetic brands " :

" Pierre Fabre Dermo - Cosmetics has decided to appeal after the December 17 decision by the Paris Court about its brand Argan e, contrary to numerous decisions of courts.

F or over  25 years having placed importance on highlight ing the properties of dermo- cosmetic argan oil ,
Pierre Fabre Research was the first to integrate it in cosmetic cares in 1986 . By creating the Argane with Argan Oil programme , Galénic Laboratories had a pioneering role in the study and enhancement of the fruit of the argan tree , amongst other things embodied by the filing of  4 patents .

Laboratories have always tried to implement this active ingredient , its protection and its history through a sustainable development approach , illustrated by a number of commitments including one to the Mohammed VI Foundation for Research and Safeguarding the argan tree. "
