2nd public enquiry on the "Well-being Spas" standard

Last October, the professionals of the "well-being" sector were requested to give their comments on the standard draft designed to professionalize the well-being spas activities. Thanks to many comments sent during this first public enquiry, the "Well-being Tourism" standardization Commission has released a new draft. The public at large and the professionals are invited to give their opinions before 28 June.

The AFNOR press release

Aware of the needs for professionalization in the emerging sector of spas, professionals of the tourism and cosmetic sectors, spas managers, aesthetician training centers and professional unions gather to design, with the help of the French Association for standardization (AFNOR), a standard that will contribute to the professionalization of these relaxation and comfort-providing spaces, currently on the rise.

First standard on spas activities

The PR NF X 50-843 standard draft gives guidelines to design and manage spas the best way to run spas (equipment location, minimum surface, controls, maintenance and management of the facility and of the equipment, waste-water treatment … and ensure the consumers about the quality of the care and products provided by a competent personnel.

Further, professionals may refer to an environmental section, which comes with proposals to lower the impact of the spas activities on the environment: electric appliances switched on only when in use, saunas monitoring, a low-consumption system in toilets, environment-friendly household products …

Novelties brought up by the first enquiry

The comments from the first public enquiry led to improvements on all the clauses. Two points have been completely rewritten:
Water networks and points of use: design, maintenance …
