Jean-Paul Marty Days at the heart of the skin microbiome

On December 8th & 9th, 2015, the 6th Jean-Paul Marty Days, organised by the Société Française de Cosmétologie (SFC) in Paris, will be dedicated to micro-organisms present on the cutaneous surface, their implications and cosmetic perspectives. On the programme: 29 scientific presentations will answer all the questions on this topic.

Philosophers and women magazines keep saying it, real beauty comes from inside. However, what’s happening at the surface of the skin could deserve as much attention as the inside. Recent works have started unveiling a whole ecosystem at the cutaneous surface, home of billions of micro-organisms directly involved in the maintenance and well-being of our skin. The number of scientific publications on the topic has been rocketing. In the market, niche brands as well as world leaders, have started mentioning the microbiome or probiotic technologies. The question is casting a new light on key issues such as skin hygiene, environmental pollution or sensitive skins. Could it that time has come to revise our definition of skin surface?
