Product Information File: the new cosmetic order

The PIF: a key part of the new Cosmetics Regulation, defined in its Article 11 and detailed in its Annex I, mandatory since 11 July 2013. The PIF is full of pieces of information and new obligations, which Sylvain-Romain Cotte has presented on November 22, during the 30th Morning Meetings on Cosmetics. Along with its regulatory aspects and its practical form, up to its digital presentation.

The Matinales de la Cosmétique (Morning Meetings on Cosmetics), organized by Sylvain-Romain Cotte ( SRC Consulting ), are a monthly opportunity for professionals of the cosmetic world to gather for a breakfast and a conference on a topical subject. By the name of International Beauty Office (IBO), a structure to help companies in the cosmetic world “make the application of the regulation an easy formality," Sylvain-Romain Cotte has been the lecturer during this 30th session, to explain the PIF content.

PIF: what is it?

The bases that lead to the PIF already existed in the Directive 76/768. However, the Regulation 1223/2009, which is fully enforced since 11 July 2013 in lieu of the Directive, goes farther, by detailing the content of the Product Information File (PIF).

The basic principle is similar: to every cosmetic product, its PIF.
This file uses mainly the Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR), the content of which is detailed in the Annex I of the Regulation.
