L'Occitane unveils its new biodiversity strategy

L'Occitane dévoile sa nouvelle stratégie en faveur de la biodiversité

Manufacturers are gradually taking on the role of protectors of nature. At COP 16 in Cali, Colombia, the L’Occitane cosmetics group presented its new roadmap for having a positive impact on the planet, its fellow citizens and its flora and fauna.

Biodiversity is the sum total of all the plant and animal species living on this planet.

“In today’s world, where climate change and environmental degradation threaten these fragile systems and the precious functions they perform, it is vital to protect biodiversity,” explains the L’Occitane Group. For us, this is not just a moral obligation, but a business imperative. We are firmly convinced that prioritising biodiversity contributes not only to a healthier planet, but also to the sustainability of the company’s activities. By working with nature, all businesses can reduce risk, build resilience and deliver long-term stakeholder value.”

A new roadmap

The company has a long-standing commitment to the environment. To develop its new strategy, L’Occitane based itself on the framework put in place in 2021.
“Our new biodiversity strategy is more precise and measurable than ever. We have developed a more precise system for assessing our impacts on and dependence on nature, in order to define clear objectives and put in place action plans to move from ‘less bad’ (simply avoid, reduce, preserve and protect) to ‘more good’ (actively contribute to the restoration and regeneration of ecosystems). L’Occitane’s new biodiversity strategy is more precise and measurable than ever.”
