6th plenary meeting: the SCCS revises and confirms 3 Opinions

During its 6th plenary meeting on 18 June 2014, the SCCS revised its Opinions on three cosmetic ingredients, after the commenting period of six weeks. . Hydroxyethoxy aminopyrazolopyridine HCl, 3-amino-2,6-dimethylphenol, Basic Brown 17: the experts did not change their first conclusions.

Hydroxyethoxy aminopyrazolopyridine HCl

This Opinion was adopted during the 5th plenary meeting of the SCCS, on 27 March 2014.
Submission l for the new hair dye substance Hydroxyethoxy aminopyrazolopyridine HCl (CAS: 1079221-49-0) A161, used in hair dye formulations, was received in August 2013 from Cosmetic Europe.

Opinion

The SCCS has confirmed its first conclusions:
The SCCS is of the opinion that, apart from its sensitizing potential, Hydroxyethoxy aminopyrazolopyridine HCl is safe for use in oxidative hair dye formulations with a concentration on-head of maximum 2.0%.
Hydroxyethoxyamino pyrazolopyridine HCl is a strong sensitizer.

 3-amino-2,6-dimethylphenol

Background

This Opinion was adopted during the 5th plenary meeting of the SCCS, on 27 March 2014.
Submission I for the new hair dye substance 3-amino-2.6-dimethylphenol (CAS: 6994-645) was received in July 2013 by Cosmetic Europe.
