CLP: Corrigendum for the warning statements for TiO2

undefined

Following the publication of the 14th ATP (Adaptation to Technical and scientific Progress) of the CLP Regulation (Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances), via Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/217 on 18 February 2020, the European Commission has just published a correction: the Danish, French, German, Italian and Polish language versions indeed contained an error as regards the scope of the labelling obligation for solid mixtures containing titanium dioxide.

Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/217, adopted on 4 October 2019 and published on 18 February 2020, added titanium dioxide, classified as a Carcinogen 2, to Annex VI of the CLP Regulation under index number 022-006-002.
Its labelling must therefore, from 1 October 2021, bear the GHS08 pictogram and associated warning statements.

The sentence “The label on the packaging of solid mixtures containing 1 % or more of titanium dioxide particles” should have been worded as follows: “The label on the packaging of solid mixtures containing 1 % or more of titanium dioxide”: “The label on the packaging of solid mixtures containing 1 % or more of titanium dioxide”.
Delegated Regulation 2121/797 of 8 March 2021, published in the Official Journal of the European Union, corrects this error.

The corrected entry 022-006-002

The exact text of this entry in Annex VI of the CLP Regulation is therefore as follows.

Index No: 022-006-002
Titanium dioxide [in powder form containing 1% or more of particles with aerodynamic diameter ≤ 10 μm] - CAS No: 13463-67-7 / CE No: 236-675-5
Hazard class …
