On 13 November 2024, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced that it had updated its Guide on the application of the CLP Regulation (on classification, labelling and packaging), to include the new hazard criteria of endocrine disruptors, PBT/vPvb and PMT/vPvM substances.
On 31 March 2023, the European Commission published Delegated Regulation 2023/707 establishing new hazard classes in the CLP Regulation on classification, labelling and packaging of substances, and determining the criteria for the classification of endocrine disrupting substances (EDs), persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBTs) and persistent, mobile and toxic (PMTs).
The new classifications will apply from 1 May 2025 for substances and from 1 May 2026 for mixtures.
ECHA has just updated its Guide to include advice on these new classifications.
“The introduction of guidance on the new hazard classes (Endocrine disruption HH, Endocrine disruption env, PBT/vPvB and PMT/vPvM) required that the guidance be split into its various parts for easier use”, l’ECHA explains. “Therefore, the guidance on the application of the CLP criteria is now presented in five documents”:
