Are the French ready for the ecological transition?

Les Français sont-ils prêts pour la transition écologique ?

At a time when the challenges of climate change are becoming ever more urgent, are consumers acting in favour of the planet? This is the question answered by the latest OpinionWay survey for Axa Prévention.

The survey was conducted among a sample of 1,097 people. The interviews were conducted by self-administered online questionnaire between 15 and 17 May 2024.

According to the results, respondents want to make an effort… but don’t know what to do.
For example, 84% of French people want to change their habits to reduce greenhouse gas emissions… But only 21% of French people know exactly where to start to reduce their carbon footprint. “In fact, 86% of them have never calculated their footprint,” comments OpinionWay.

In practical terms, the reason why respondents want to take action is to guarantee their well-being. 75% of them are concerned about the impact of the environment on their health.
63% of French people are already convinced that their actions to combat global warming have a positive impact on their health and that of others, and 49% feel they have a responsibility towards future generations.

What about professionals?

The OpinionWay survey for Axa Prévention also gave business leaders their say (conducted among a sample of 1,001 executives from all sectors between 26 April and 24 May 2024).

For manufacturers, the climate crisis is important, but they do not rank it among their most important issues.
