China continues to dominate global baby bodycare
Even though the change in one-child policy permits many families to have a second child, fewer families have responded than anticipated; however, even slight increases in births could improve baby bodycare product sales in a population of over 1.3 billion. In 2014, the number of Chinese companies manufacturing nursing and skincare baby products rose by 12%. From April 2014 through March 2015, China’s baby bodycare launches accounted for roughly 1% of global bodycare launches, leading the category (source: Mintel GNPD).
In 2014, baby bodycare products accounted for 35% of Chinese total bodycare launches, over double that of South Africa which registered 15%.
