Coronavirus: the new relationship between consumers and their stores

Coronavirus : les nouveaux rapports entre les consommateurs et leurs magasins

While the health crisis has not yet been contained, the stores have been welcoming the public for several months now. But do consumers feel comfortable? The agency Mood Media (specialized in media solutions) conducted a survey in collaboration with the polling institute Censuswide to give some elements of answer.

To conduct this study, 8120 people from the United States, United Kingdom, France and China responded.
The panel is made up of half men and half women and all participants are over 16 years old. All questions were asked online or in the field by Censuswide teams.
The survey was conducted between August 7, 2020 and August 13, 2020.

The initial figures revealed that consumers are aware that shopping is a health risk. 49% of panelists believe that they could be contaminated by Covid-19 while shopping in stores.
However, 71% of respondents feel comfortable about going back to the store. As a result, 67% of them have already been to the store for non-essential purchases.
One of the reasons for this increase in mass traffic is the fact that they try, touch, see the products. 47% of those questioned corroborate this thesis.

The importance of sanitary measures
Whether it is the mandatory wearing of a mask, the hydroalcoholic gel provided, protective screens or contactless payment, all these precautions reassure consumers.
80% of those questioned said they feel more confident when they walk into a store.
