Since 17 March, France has been virtually at a standstill. This is due to the coronavirus epidemic that is spreading throughout the country. Many companies have had to freeze their activities or readapt their offer. This is the case of the cosmetics sector. In order to take stock of the current situation, Anne Dux, Director of Regulatory and Scientific Affairs of the FEBEA, answered questions from CosmeticOBS.

CosmeticOBS: How are companies impacted by the current health crisis?

Anne Dux : Cosmetic companies are struggling every day to maintain their business as much as possible. Many commercial channels remain open, starting with mass distribution, but also parapharmaceutical departments and e-commerce.
But it is above all the tremendous mobilization of the sector to manufacture hydroalcoholic gels that I would like to salute. Today, we have dozens of members who have volunteered to make hydroalcoholic gel, delivered in priority to hospitals, clinics and EHPADs.
Several million more bottles are being put on the market thanks to cosmetic companies!
This is all the more remarkable amaong SMEs who have managed to reconvert their production tool in a few days. All over France, we have examples we can be proud of.

CosmeticOBS: How does the FEBEA help its members who have started to produce hydro-alcoholic gel?

AD : FEBEA is on the warpath! Even before the confinement, we had negotiated on foot with the authorities so that our sector could benefit from an exemption and that the terms of this exemption would be in line with our expectations.
We therefore welcomed the various ministerial decrees which essentially take up our requests.
