Sunscreen is all the rage. More and more women are applying it regularly, even when they’re not on vacation. According to the latest survey by research firm The Benchmarking Company, sun protection is becoming a daily must-have for women.
The Benchmarking Company surveyed over 2,600 American women in March 2024 to find out what they buy when it comes to sunscreen.
Watch out for the sun!
46% of those surveyed say they wear sunscreen every day. 31% apply it irregularly, and 6% say they don’t need it. 16% of American women do not use such products, but avoid exposure to the sun whenever possible.
From now on, sun protection means all year round. 100% of respondents say they use it in summer, 75% in spring, 57% in autumn and 48% in winter.
American women (56%) say they vary between different skincare references.
They change cosmetics according to their resistance to perspiration (68%) and their finish on the epidermis (48%).
Tanning = ageing?
It’s long been fashionable to sport a tanned complexion for sunny days. Today, 85% of women fear that prolonged exposure to the sun contributes to premature skin aging.
They also fear spots (81%), skin cancer (76%) and depigmentation (76%).

When it comes to suncare products, American women have certain expectations. They want a product that:
