Data analysis agency Spate, in collaboration with Symrise, has produced a report highlighting the latest trends in sun protection and the brands most popular with consumers. The aim is to enable professionals to better understand the expectations of the general public.

To compile this dossier, Spate analyzed 20 billion Google and TikTok search data.
Consumers, increasingly aware of the risks associated with prolonged unprotected exposure to the sun, are searching to find the product best suited to their needs.

Here are the most frequently used keywords:
• Mineral sunscreen
• Tinted sunscreen
• Chemical sunscreens
• Zinc-based sunscreens
• Sunscreen stick
• Tinted moisturizer SPF
• Sunscreen gel
• Titanium dioxide
• Hair sunscreen
• Water-based sunscreen

“The growth in research into mineral and chemical sunscreens shows that consumers are evaluating every formula, whether in terms of efficacy, safety or white color, for example. Ultimately, this highlights the widespread interest in sunscreens for many reasons, including preventing skin damage, but also reducing the risk of skin cancer,” analyzes Brian Kolman, Technical Director, Cosmetic Ingredients Division, for Symrise’s North American branch.

In terms of brands, here are the companies that consumers are most interested in:

• Eucerin
• Tocobo
• Colorescience
• Isdin
