There is no doubt they are the quickest way to remove makeup (well, you still need to wash them yourself or in the washing machine afterwards). Softer and less polluting than wipes, they prove both cheap and ecological. And as they are very efficient to remove anything (even waterproof mascara), they are seducing an increasing number of women.
We have adopted microfibers for our home, and we are also going to adopt them for removing makeup! Cleansing gloves made of microfibers have been blossoming for two years, but they are now getting really widespread.
The first ones were exclusively available at Sephora’s under American brand Makeup Eraser (Reusable Makeup Remover Cloth, €20.55), first in pink, and now also in black (this one looks less scuzzy after use!).
Today, the company features its own, also in black (Sephora Water Cleansing Glove, €9.95).
Let’s admit it, they are convenient, economical, and have a pleasant skin feel. There is no need to keep buying any makeup cleanser or cleansing cotton or discs. Their shelf life is of about three to four months. Microfibers are softer than cleansing cotton, and less irritating than wipes. A few drops of water (warm or cold, as you like) are enough to quickly dislodge both makeup and impurities from the skin. In addition, cleansing gloves are machine washable, and they leave the skin soft and clean, without hurting sensitive epidermises.
These travelling kings are extremely convenient for a weekend or when you are away on business (already little cumbersome in their full size, most of them are also available in travel size). But, do they remove makeup as well as the milk/lotion duo, micellar water, or cleansing oil? They actually do, and that is a real surprise. They cleanse everything, including long-lasting blushes and most persistent mascaras, without leaving any oily film on the eyes. They are also efficient in removing scrubs and masks.
Already in supermarkets, now in pharmacies
After Glov and its star-shaped fibre structure, 100 times finer than the hair (Glov On-the-Go in four new bright colours, €12.99, at Monoprix’s), and Lapiglove (Cleansing Glove, €16, sold in pairs with a standard size and a mini size), it is now Lytess Cosmétotextile’s turn to market their own in pharmacies, as from February (Cleansing Care Glove Perfection 3-in-1, €17.90, only one colour, pink).
In this case, microfibers are soaked with vegetable oils (virgin oil, pomegranate, and argan), and moisturizing actives. The microfibers can resist 30 washes. The highly gentle curly stitch removes both blush and impurities with an electrostatic effect.
Ultimately, we cannot but mention the very eco-friendly Fibao bamboo microfiber Cleansing Gloves (€6.50). Adapted to all skin types (sensitive, combination, oily…), they are made in France by disabled workers and can be used with water or a cleanser. Each piece can be washed up to 300 times in a machine (the brand claims one glove can ‘replace 600 disposable cotton pads or wipes!’), and the fibres are Oeko Tex and Peta Vegan-labelled (so they are both environmentally and animal friendly).
