The Covid-19 has impacted daily life and brought out new needs. This is an opportunity for cosmetic brands to analyze these habits and to offer the public concrete solutions to address their issues. During a webinar broadcasted on April 14, 2021, Kantar, a forecasting firm, has drawn up the ranking of the most appreciated products in 2020 by British consumers.

According to Emma Chambers, Client Manager at Kantar Worldpanel Division, the beauty industry is an innovation industry that was lacking a bit of renewal until now.
Covid-19 has allowed some categories, such as hygiene, to come back to the forefront with new formulations or concepts. The cosmetic offer is thus mutating in favor of the trends inspired by the health crisis. “Because of the containment, hair dyes have grown by 21%. The same is true for bath products and face masks, which have increased their sales by 14% and 17% respectively.”

The top 10

Kantar has made a ranking of the top 10 most profitable and popular products in the UK in 2020.

No. 1 -Boots No.7 Advanced Retinol
Upon release, this product quickly became one of the brand’s bestsellers.
At the end of the year, the line brought in 13 million euros.
It is a product that offers the consumer ten cosmetic benefits, the main one being the fight against skin aging.

No. 2 - Colgate Gum Invigorate
This new range launched by Colgate has raised almost 5 million euros. This has allowed Colgate to catch up with its direct competitor, Corsodyl.
