Recall of products - 2024

Recalls, marketing bans, import refusals, destruction orders… Non-compliant and/or unsafe cosmetic products detected on the market by control authorities are regularly reported to consumers and competent authorities in third countries, through dedicated European portals (Safety Gate for the European Union, Safety Database for the United Kingdom) or the French database Rappel Conso. All are listed here.

Template for a recall notice: a corrigendum to European Regulation 2024/1435Subscribers only

Published in May 2024, Implementing Regulation 2024/1435 provides the model to be followed by product recall notices issued by companies to consumers. The European Commission has now added a further clarification on the instructions to be given to consumers.

Safety Gate opens up to consumersSubscribers only

Implementing Regulation 2024/1740, published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 24 June 2024, will enable consumers and other interested parties to report products that could pose a risk to health and safety directly to the Safety Gate portal. This measure has been taken in application of Regulation 2023/988 on general product safety.

New features for French SignalConsoSubscribers only

SignalConso, the French platform for reporting and recalling defective or non-compliant products run by the DGCCRF, is continuing to expand. Its application has just had a facelift and now offers more services.

The European Commission publishes its template for a recall noticeSubscribers only

Implementing Regulation 2024/1435, published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 27 May 2024, provides the model that product recall notices issued by companies to consumers must follow. It will thus be unique and standardised from 13 December 2024.
