15 June 2009 The text of the Afssaps communiqué: L’ was informed of the packaging defect of a cosmetic product of the brand Atoderm (Atoderm PP anti-recurrence - Emollient balm - batch n°34481) which caused an adverse skin effect (burn) in a 4-year-old child with eczema. The evolution of the adverse reaction was favourable, with no sequelae, after discontinuation of the product and implementation of symptomatic treatment. The Agency recommends not to use the product and to return it to the point of sale. The product concerned by the packaging defect is"Atoderm PP anti-recurrence - Emollient balm" (lot n°34481) marketed by Bioderma laboratories. Indeed, some bottles in this range contain a blue foaming product instead of the emollient balm (white) advertised on the bottle. The Bioderma laboratory has already made the necessary arrangements with wholesalers and sales outlets to withdraw products with this packaging defect from sale and to proceed with its withdrawal. The Bioderma laboratory has also set up a telephone number to answer consumers' questions:  04 72 11 48 00 . The Afssaps recalls that any adverse reaction following the use of cosmetic products must be reported to the Agency.
