Hair dyes: 3 Opinions of the SCCS

On June 25, 2015, during its 10th plenary meeting, the SCCS has adopted its Opinion on three hair dye cosmetic ingredients: 2,5,6-Triamino-4-pyrimidinol sulfate, HC Yellow No. 17, and 2,6-Dihydroxyethylaminotoluene. These Opinions have just been published and are open for comments until 28 October 2015.

Background

The hair dye 2,5,6-Triamino-4-pyrimidmol sulfate is an oxidative hair colouring agent used at an on-head concentrations of up to 0.5%.

Opinion

 1. In light of the new data provided, does SCCS consider 2,5,6-Triamino-4-pyrimidinol sulfate as safe for use as an oxidative hair dye agent with an on-head concentration of 0.5%?

In the light of the new data provided, the SCCS considers the use of 2,5,6-triamino-4-pyrimidinol sulfate as an ingredient in oxidative hair dye formulations at a maximum concentration of 0.5% on the head is safe.

 2. Does the SCCS have any further scientific concerns with regard to the use of 2,5,6-Triamino-4-yrimidinol sulfate in cosmetic products?

A skin sensitising potential of 2,5,6-triamino-4-pyrimidinol sulfate cannot be excluded.
