Online reservations: strong development potential for beauty treatments

Have the French gotten into the habit of using the Internet to make an appointment with their hairdresser or book a spa?A study conducted by OpinionWay in March 2015 among 1053 people for Balinea, Doctolib and TheFourchette reveals that, all sectors combined, 77% of French people have already made an appointment or made a reservation on the web. This market, where new players are rapidly gaining ground, offers considerable potential for the beauty sector, particularly on mobile phones.

Online booking has existed for more than 20 years

Online booking has been growing for almost 20 years, initiated by Booking.com in 1996 in the Netherlands and internationally. In France, air and train tickets, hotels and shows opened this market with Lastminute.com in 1999, Voyages-sncf.com in 2000, Billetreduc.com in 2002 and Expedia.fr in 2004. At the end of 2010, Balinea.com opened its online booking platform for beauty salons and hairdressers. Followed among others by Chezlecoiffeur.com in 2012 (stopped since 2015), Coiftou.com in 2012 and Zensoon.com in 2013.
