End-of-year festivities: how do Brits prepare to consume?

Only a few weeks to go before Christmas and the shopping that goes with it. Polling firm Attest has asked how people in the UK intend to spend their money during this crucial period for retailers.

“Although the country is still going through the economic crisis, public morale is good,” explains Attest. “Consumers estimate they will spend a minimum of £100-200 on Black Friday 2023 (versus £50-100 last year). London will be the place where residents spend the most money (300 pounds).”
Britons will treat themselves to high-tech items (47.9%), clothing (45.9%) and cosmetics (31%).
On the other hand, 16.1% of the population do not intend to take advantage of Black Friday promotions, so as not to give in to the siren calls of over-consumption.

According to Attest, Black Friday 2023 should see the return of the general public to the stores. After buying massively online (due to the health situation), shoppers are determined to shop in-store. Gen Z, for its part, intends to shop online. They will only shop in-store when retailers offer a customer experience worthy of the name.
