French people's favourite sunscreens

As in all cosmetics segments, there is a plethora of suncare products on offer. Idealo, an online comparison tool, has investigated which products and brands have been the most popular with French consumers this summer 2024.

According to Idealo, the 2024 selection highlights a greater desire on the part of the general public to protect themselves effectively.

In this order, we find:
• Sun Gel-Cream Oil Control SPF 50 + (Eucerin)
• Choco Suntan & Body Oil (Cocosolis)
• Actinica SPF50+ (Actinica)
• Ambre Solaire Delial Deep Brown Tanning Oil (Garnier)
• Cicabio SPF 50+ (Bioderma)
• Sun Secure Blur Mousse Cream SPF 50 (SVR)
• Anthelios 100 KA Med (La Roche-Posay)
• UVMune 400 Tinted Sun Cream SPF 50+ (La Roche-Posay)

The brands most in demand by consumers are:
• SVR
• La Roche-Posay
• Avène
• Eucerin
• Vichy
• Bioderma
• Nuxe
• Garnier
• Cocosolis
• Isdin

Idealo has also taken a look at price trends for sun protection products between 2021 and 2024.
“In January 2021, the average price of products was €18.61, with moderate fluctuations throughout the year. In 2022, prices rose slightly, reaching €19.09 in June. The year 2023 saw a more significant rise, with a peak of €25.26 in May, before falling back to €20.57 in June. In June 2024, the average price was €20.54, relatively stable compared with the previous year, with a marginal fall of 0.2%.”
