When it comes to e-commerce, give me marketplaces! For a long time, these multi-brand spaces have struggled to make their mark on consumer habits. But according to an OpinionWay survey for Retail Tech, more and more households are making their online purchases via this distribution channel.
The survey was conducted among a sample of 1,006 people. The interviews were conducted on 25 and 26 September.
Generally speaking, the respondents have a good image of marketplaces (73%). Only 25% had negative views.
According to respondents, this distribution channel has the advantage of offering:

• Attractive prices (38)
• Fast delivery (37%)
• Good value for money (36%)
• Ease of purchase (31%)
• Speed of purchase (24%)
• Access to rare or special products (13%)
• Ease of comparing offers (13%)
• User reviews (10%)
Although opinions are fairly positive, consumers have expectations and want marketplaces to:
• Offer promotions (31%)
• Have an easier returns policy (21%)
• Offer shorter delivery times (20%)
• Be more transparent about the origin of products (20%)
• Offer a more attractive loyalty scheme (19%)
• Pay attention to the environment (18%)
• Develop better payment security (15%)
• Source more unusual products that cannot be found elsewhere (13%)
• Forge partnerships with local businesses (12%)
• Offer payment facilities (12%)
