The Triman logo system was enforced on January 1, 2015, as a result of the French ‘Grenelle Environnement’ initiative. It helps consumers identify the recyclable packaging subject to sorting instructions.

The Triman logo is a purely French provision approved by the European Commission. It targets the household packaging of products manufactured in France or imported into the French territory.

The Triman logo must be affixed to all or parts of household packaging (cosmetics belong to this category) that is both recyclable and subject to sorting instructions. But it can also appear on instructions for use or any other material, including dematerialized.
Here are some examples for cosmetics: cases and packaging boards, aerosols, plastic bottles and flasks, as well as their stoppers and caps…
In case of several packages or parts of separable packaging for the same cosmetic product: either the Triman logo appears on each recyclable package, or it is affixed on the packaging that is most directly in contact with consumers with a message indicating what other packaging is recyclable.

The Triman logo is not affixed on non-recyclable packaging or parts of packaging: plastic containers, except for the Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) or High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) used for some toothpaste tubes, makeup products, blister packs…
It can be reproduced in black or in colour, depending on what the manufacturer chooses, and be completed with sorting instructions.
