Committed to the preservation of the environment, the paperboard packaging supplier has published its roadmap for a sustainable strategy. In the coming years, Metsä Board intends to contribute to the fight against global warming, promote the use of resources and support an ethical production chain.
In order to curb climate change, Metsä Board aims to have 100% fossil-free production and products by the end of 2030. This target includes both emissions from the company’s own energy production and purchased energy. Currently, 87% of the energy used in Metsä Board’s factories is non-fossil.
With regard to water use, Metsä Board has set an even stricter target of 35% (previously 30%) reduction per ton of product.
“Several indicators related to ethical operations and workplace well-being have been added to the target setting. We will monitor job satisfaction, the implementation of anonymous recruitment processes and the share of women in management positions,” the company added.
