Triman: a decree that lightens the man

We had been waiting for a few years for the arrival of this new logo, intended to indicate to the consumer the recyclable packaging (including cosmetics) being the subject of a sorting instruction. The principle was accepted for entry into force on 1 January 2015. All that was missing was its implementing decree. Released on December 26, it provides some relief to the scheme.

The Triman logo, a product of the Grenelle de l'Environnement, aimed to harmonize the recycling markings of the various products placed on the market, to simplify the citizen's sorting process by informing him about recyclable products, and to contribute to increasing the performance of separate collections and recycling.

But this little sorting man encountered a few obstacles before he officially entered the world of packaging. Its implementation date has thus been postponed to 1 January 2015. And its practical modalities have been the subject of much discussion among the various stakeholders. To put it simply, the trend was towards simplification. The implementing decree confirms a lighter and rather loosely binding Triman.

The Decree No. 2014-1577 of 23 December 2014 on common signage for recyclable products subject to sorting instructions published in the Official Journal n° 0298 of 26 December 2014, recalls that"the the implementation of common signage (…) informing the consumer of recyclable products subject to an extended producer responsibility scheme which fall under a sorting instruction (…) must make it possible to significantly simplify the citizen's sorting process and contribute to increasing the performance of separate collections and recycling "and the provision applies to". any issuer on the market …
